Sediments sampling campaign – Danube Delta

In the first two weeks of February the coastal team at UB traveled in the Danube Delta (Sfântu Gheorghe village) with the purpose to take sediment samples using a Beeker type device from the lakes and reed marshes area. This activity was part of the research plan to improve the database which will be used to establish the sedimentation pattern of the Danube Delta in the last few centuries (WP3, Task 3.1). The campaign resulted in returning to the laboratory with 4 core profiles extracted and sampled. Additionally, the team took several SLIP samples (Sea Level Index Point) with an auger and measured several beach profiles by DGPS.
