In the last month of 2021 UB team undertook a new twofold sampling campaign in the Danube Delta beach ridge plains and coastal area. The first purpose was to sample new cross-shore profiles and increase their coverage on the beach-dune system, for testing the Sea Level Index Points method developed by our team as a new paleo sea-level determination. 8 sediment profiles were sampled and geo-positioned, and sample will be further processed at UB lab.

The second task was to supplement the number of short-cores taken from lakes, reed associations and beach ridge plains for ¹³⁷Cs and ²¹⁰Pb analysis in order to determine recent sedimentation rates in the Danube Delta. The cores were taken with a van-Beeker type sampler and will be processed at P3 lab, IFIN-HH.
